Ad-hoc Press Release by Intertainment AG
Court determines April 20, 2004 as the new date for the main hearing in the
legal dispute with Franchise Pictures
Ismaning near Munich, October 2, 2003 - The judge at
the US District Court of California has set April 20, 2004 as the start of the main hearing in the legal dispute between
Intertainment GmbH and Franchise Pictures.
Originally the main hearing was scheduled to start on August 5, 2003. The court confirmed this date in the middle of
June and granted a total of 16 trial days. However, just one month later the court postponed this date because of a
criminal trial that took precedence over civil proceedings. In the communication informing the parties of the
postponement, the judge requested that they agree on a date for the start of the trial in March, April, May or August
2004. Intertainment had submitted an application for the trial to be scheduled this year, but this has been superseded
by the announcement of the new trial date.
Intertainment and Franchise Pictures have been in legal dispute since December 2000 as a result of fraudulently inflated
budgets. Intertainment Licensing GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Intertainment AG, is claiming compensation for
damages amounting to at least 100 million dollars.
