Intertainment AG achieves balanced result in the first quarter
Legal dispute restricts business for media enterprise
Ismaning nr. Munich, 31 May 2001 - Intertainment AG of Ismaning nr. Munich has achieved group
revenues totalling DM 9.55 million/4.88 million Euro in the first quarter of the current
financial year 2001 (first quarter 2000: DM 65.4 million/33.4 million Euro). The reduction in
revenues compared to the same period of last year is a direct result of the legal dispute with
Franchise Pictures. It has not been possible up to now to exploit the film rights which are the
subject of the dispute.
The revenues for the first quarter of 2001 are mainly from the current exploitation of rights
in the pay TV sector. Despite the low revenues, Intertainment was able to achieve a balanced
result from its ordinary business activities of DM 0.086 million /0.044 million Euro. In the
first three months of last year the result of ordinary business activities was DM 34.1 million/17.4
million Euro.
Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) is minus DM 0.86 million/0.44 million Euro (DM 45.0
million/23.0 million Euro). Financial resources at the end of the quarter stood at DM 141
million/72.1 million Euro (DM 77.9 million/39.8 million Euro).
A total of DM 3.8 million/1.94 million Euro was spent on the collaboration with producer Arnold
Kopelson in the first quarter of 2001.
