Intertainment has Exclusive Rights to "Rudolph" in German-speaking
Europe
Ad-hoc release from BKN International AG is misleading
Munich, 27 September 2000 - Munich-based media group Intertainment AG possesses
the entire exploitation rights for the American cartoon film "Rudolph the
Red-Nosed Reindeer" and the characters appearing in it for German-speaking
Europe. Intertainment feels it is necessary to state this clearly, as the
Cologne based company BKN International AG (BKNI) declared in an ad-hoc
statement released on 20 September 2000 that, among other titles, it had
acquired the rights to Rudolph from the American company GoodTimes
Entertainment. However, this is not the case for German-speaking Europe. For
this reason, Intertainment immediately demanded a corrective statement from BKNI,
which was published accordingly on 26 September 2000.
In addition to its rights to "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,"
Intertainment Animation & Merchandising GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of
Intertainment AG, also possesses the film and marketing rights for all of
German-speaking Europe for the new cartoon film "Rudolph the Red-Nosed
Reindeer and the Island of Misfit Toys." On its completion the second
Rudolph movie, which is currently being produced, will be marketed and
distributed by Intertainment.
Back in 1999, Intertainment introduced the cult figure Rudolph to the public in
Ger-many, Austria and Switzerland. In Germany and Austria, the video became the
most sold video of the year already in its first year of market appearance. At
Christmas 2000 Rudolph will once again delight children and adults now with more
than 90 lin-censed products. Exploitation will exclusively be in the hands of
Intertainment and its distribution partners.
