Intertainment also achieves profit after the first nine
months of 2004
Ismaning near Munich, November 23, 2004 – Intertainment AG, Ismaning near Munich,
concluded the first nine months of the current year with a profit. The
conse-quences of the fraud perpetrated by US film producer Franchise Pictures
and others on Intertainment continued to impact on the figures.
The consolidated net income for the accounting period was 0.9 million euros
after the first three quarters of this year. In the comparable year-earlier
period, Intertainment reported a loss amounting to -6.5 million euros. All other
profit indicators underwent substantial improvement. EBIT for the first three
months of 2004 was 1.4 million eu-ros, after -5.5 million euros in the
equivalent year-earlier period. Earnings from ordi-nary activities climbed to
1.1 (equivalent year-earlier period -5.8) million euros. And earnings per share
amounted to 0.08 euros after -0.55 euros.
Sales of Intertainment climbed to 17.4 million euros, compared with 4.1 million
euros after the first nine months of 2003. The increase in sales is due to
exploitation of the thriller “Twisted” during the first half of 2004.
During the third quarter itself, Intertainment generated no further sales from
exploita-tion of the film. Sales of the Group fell during the third quarter to
0.1 million euros af-ter 2.0 million euros in the equivalent year-earlier period.
However, the loss for the accounting period at -1.4 million euros was 0.3
million euros less than in the third quarter of 2003. Earnings from ordinary
activities at -0.8 million euros during this year’s third quarter compare with
-1.6 million euros in the equivalent year-earlier pe-riod.
Cash and cash equivalents of Intertainment amounted to 1.4 million euros on
Sep-tember 30, 2004. On June 30, 2004, Intertainment had liquid assets of 1
million eu-ros. At the close of 2003, they were 2.1 million euros.
